About this Course
A LEED professional credential signifies that you have green building expertise and it shows a clear commitment to professional growth, while underscoring your value to LEED project teams and sustainability-focused organizations. LEED for Building Design and Construction (LEED BD+C) provides a framework for designing and constructing a new holistic green building, giving you the chance to nail down every sustainability feature from the ground up, maximizing the benefits.
AIA Dallas and USGBC Texas will present an 8-hour LEED AP BD+C exam preparation class, meeting for 2 hours on each of the last 4 Tuesdays in January. The course will cover the specifics of the LEED BD+C system, including:
Participants are assumed to already have knowledge of the framework of USGBC and the core concepts required to obtain a LEED Green Associate credential.
Recommended study materials will be outlined, in addition to covering what you need to know. Purchase one or more of the following books, if you want a detailed study guide:
About the Presenter
Jose Montoya, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP BD+C, LEED AP ID+C, LEED AP O+M
Jose Montoya is trained as an architect, yet his interests and influence range widely from large scale sustainable neighborhood developments to small sustainable corporate commercial interiors across the United States. Montoya is currently a Sustainable Designer and Project Manager at Corgan Associates. Montoya is a member of Corgan’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee responsible for the development, implementation and tracking of sustainable design initiatives across the firm. Montoya is a project manager currently overseeing the sustainable design and LEED v4 Certification Process for a 480,000 SF confidential energy company and also Corgan’s New Office Expansion. Montoya enjoys volunteer work with the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) as an education reviewer and with the AIA Dallas Committee on the Environment (COTE) as an advocate for sustainable development in Dallas. Lastly, Montoya is a City of Dallas Green Building Ordinance Third Party Plan Reviewer & Inspector for new residential and commercial projects.
Jose holds a Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Texas at Austin. He has presented on sustainable design concepts at universities and conferences in Texas, Kansas and Mexico.
