About the Event:
Join us for a discussion of PACE across Texas. Charlene Vanlier Heydinger and Dub Taylor from Texas PACE Authority will discuss Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE). PACE is a financial tool that enables owners of commercial and industrial properties in Texas to obtain low-cost, long-term loans for water conservation, energy-efficiency improvements, and distributed generation retrofits.
The speakers will provide an overview of the history and growth of PACE in Texas and the use case studies to demonstrate the mechanics of how PACE programs operate. Learn how building owners can take advantage of the Texas PACE program to lower operating costs and how service providers can increase business development. Texas PACE Authority administers the program in 47 Texas Jurisdictions reaching over 60% of the Texas population. $109 million in PACE energy and water saving investments throughout Texas to date.
David Matiella, USGBC Texas' advocacy committee chair, will moderate the discussion including a Q&A with participants.
About the Speakers:
Charlene Heydinger is the president of the Texas PACE Authority, the nonprofit administrator of more than 45 Texas PACE programs and also serves as the executive director of Keeping PACE in Texas, the trade association that led the legislative effort in support of the Texas PACE Act. Heydinger is a member of the Texas, Washington, DC, Michigan, and US Supreme Court Bar Associations. She served on the executive board of the Capital Area Council, BSA and the board of SPEER.
Dub Taylor is chief operating officer at Texas PACE Authority. Taylor has served as the director of the Texas State Energy Conservation Office (SECO). Prior to SECO, Taylor's public sector experience includes six years with the Texas Railroad Commission’s Alternative Fuels Research and Education Division. Taylor’s private sector experience includes commercial real estate, property appraisal and property tax consulting. He is a native of Dallas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.
David Matiella is a professor and administrator in higher education with the University of Texas at San Antonio College of Architecture, Construction and Planning. For more than a decade he has volunteered with the U.S. Green Building Council Texas Chapter. He currently sits on the state Board and is the Chair of the Statewide Advocacy Committee to advocate for green building policies and initiatives at state and local levels. He lives in San Antonio with his wife and two children and a tuxedo cat named Sam.
