About the Event
The USGBC Texas Central Region membership is invited to a SITES Certificate presentation lunch and tour of the newly renovated Kingsbury Commons at Pease Park. Jonathan Kraatz, Executive Director of the US Green Building Council Texas Chapter, will present Pease Park Conservancy and the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department with the plaque recognizing the Kingsbury Commons project with SITES Gold certification and Heath Riddles-Sanchez, CEO of Pease Park Conservancy, and Chuck Smith, COO of the Conservancy, will take us on a tour of Kingsbury Commons and share with us their vision for improvements to the entire 84-acres of Pease Park.

Speakers:
Heath Riddles-Sanchez, is Chief Executive Officer of the Pease Park Conservancy. He has more than 15 years of senior leadership experience in Austin’s nonprofit sector. He has helped raise millions of dollars over the course of his career at organizations like Equality Texas, Texas Advocacy Project, the Long Center for Performing Arts, and The Hispanic Alliance.
He has worked as a director at Elizabeth Christian Public Relations and served on the boards of the Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival, The Hispanic Alliance and Waterloo Counseling Center. Heath is passionate about Austin’s green space and believes Pease Park represents all that makes Austin great.
Chuck Smith is a fifth generation Austinite, who understands the importance of Austin's park system as a vital component of what makes Austin special. As COO of the Peace Park Conservancy, he is thrilled to have the opportunity to manage the Kingsbury Commons Project and related programming for Pease Park. Chuck comes to PPC from a 15-year stint at the LGBTQ advocacy organization Equality Texas, where he served as the CEO. He enjoys the hike & bike trails and shares his home with two Great Danes, Honey & Cleo.
Liana Berberidou-Kallivoka currently serves as an Assistant Director at the Austin Parks and Recreation Department, the trusted steward of the City of Austin’s public lands. Liana has been an Assistant Director at the Parks and Recreation Department since 2016, responsible for Planning, Development and Operations. Prior to this position, she was the manager of the Commercial Division at Austin Energy Green Building, an internationally recognized program focused on promoting sustainable development and growth at Austin’s community-owned electric utility.
Meeting place: We'll gather at the Tudor Cottage and Terrace.
Parking: To access the Kingsbury Commons entrance to Pease Park, there is a small parking lot at the front of the park at 1100 Kingsbury Street and there is limited street parking in that area. There are also a few parking spots available next to Live Oak Meadow on Parkway, south of 24th Street. Another small parking lot is available in Pease Park’s Gaston Green area, just north of 26th Street off of Lamar Blvd.
