LEED v5 is part of a global movement towards sustainable building practices, supporting the transition to a low-carbon, resource efficient, and healthier built environment, making a direct connection between sustainable strategies and global and organizational goals addressing climate action, quality of life and ecological advancement.
Embracing market demands for greater accountability, Version 5 will champion solutions to align the built environment with critical imperatives including decarbonization, ecosystem conservation and restoration, equity, health, and resilience.
Speakers:
Allison Smith a Sustainable Design Leader at HKS and a registered Interior Designer. She promotes responsible material selection and education firm wide, and has managed more than 65 sustainability projects, totaling more than $5.6 billion in construction – including LEED v4 Platinum, LEED v4.1 Gold, and WELL Platinum projects.
Allison supports materials transparency and optimization initiatives including USGBC Material & Resources Technical Advisory Group (MR TAG), Health Product Declaration Collaborative (HPDC) Technical Committee, HPDC Hazards Technical sub-group (TSG), and the mindful MATERIALS (mM) AEC Forum. Allison is a recipient of the 2022 International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) Trailblazer Award and a juror for the 2023 Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Decathlon Build Challenge. Allison served as the Chair of the USGBC MR TAG during the development of LEED v5, is a USGBC North Texas Regional Council Member, and is the Chair of the HPDC Technical Committee.
Natalie Terrill is the Director of Sustainability at The Beck Group, a renowned design-build firm celebrated for its integrated approach to architecture and construction, and its leadership in green building initiatives. Named a LEED Fellow in 2022 for her dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable development, Natalie drives initiatives that embed green practices into the company's projects and operations.
With nearly two decades of experience in sustainable design and construction consulting, she leverages her extensive expertise to guide The Beck Group toward innovative, eco-friendly solutions that reduce its carbon footprint, solidifying the firm’s position as a leader in sustainable building.
Natalie is also deeply involved in the green building community. Through her active participation in the United States Green Building Council, the Large Firm Roundtable Sustainability Committee, the Texas Materials Initiative, the Associated General Contractors of America Climate Action Task Force, and Building Green’s Peer Network, she advocates for sustainable development and contributes to the advancement of the industry.
