About this Event Selling Sustainability: 5 Principles of PersuasionIn today’s political and social climate, an understanding of the science of persuasion is the most important tool for any environmentalist. Led by Julie Hendricks and Colley Hodges – architects, sustainability consultants, and green building advocates with Kirksey | Architecture – this presentation will cover five principles of persuasion that merge classical theories of rhetoric with the latest findings in social psychology and neuroscience. Concepts will be explained through illustrations and discussions of success stories and challenges drawn from Kirksey’s experience at the forefront of the green building/green schools movement in Houston. Finally, participants will be led through a persuasive exercise, taking away critical lessons about how sure-footed we should stand in our beliefs, and when we may appear just as obstinate as our opponents.
