About this Event

This conversation, hosted by the USGBC Texas North Regional will be hosting a NEXT Event from 5 to 6 pm in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day.

While we may be celebrating among the coronavirus pandemic, there is much we’ve accomplished and even more that requires a renewed commitment!

Please join us as we start off with a virtual happy hour and toast to the last 50 years. The 2nd half of the hour will be spent in breakout groups to discuss three topics of interest as many are contemplating what is NEXT in our return to work in the months ahead and for USGBC Texas!

Brief Survey with regard to Breakouts and Future Topics

Breakout Groups:

1. The New Definition of a Healthy Workplace – Post COVID-19 what will be the new expectation of a healthy workplace?  In this break group hear and discuss how air quality, cleaning protocol, maintenance schedules, and touchless technologies are being explored.  Share resources, ask questions and discuss priorities.

2.  Design Responses to COVID-19 – Prior to the pandemic much of the design worlds strategies steered toward condensing – office space, workstations, transportation, etc.  During this breakout group discuss how design practices are anticipated to change in the short-term vs long-term. In addition, learn how we might better design to be more resilient, so that spaces can transform in response to an emergency.

3.   USGBC’s Living Standard & Goals – Includes the 4 Pillars of Sustainability, Resilience, Health & Wellness, and Equity.  During this breakout participants will discuss how the strategies for one pillar are related to the other three and how by applying all four can result in a robust design, especially during a time of resilience planning and business continuity.
