EQUITY IN CLIMATE ACTION Discussion with Texas Cities
Thursday, November 19th
Online meeting
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM Virtual meeting opens 10 minutes prior to starting
About the Event:
USGBC Texas will continue our series on Climate Action plans across Texas on with a look at how the adopted (and proposed) climate action and adaptations plans incorporate equity with a conversation moderated by David Matiella, chair of the USGBC Texas Advocacy Committee and Associate Dean of Architecture at UTSA. David will review the analysis that USGBC Texas has done over the past several months followed by a panel discussion ideally with participants from each of cities.
Background:
To fulfill this commitment, each is creating and implementing a climate action and adaptation plan with the help of nonprofit and academic institutions, private sector experts, and community input. To date implementation of these plans has begun in San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas. The update to Austin’s existing plan (2014) is due later this summer as well as one from El Paso later this year.
Each of these plans include multiple strategies to address issues across the spectrum of a city's operations, investments, and infrastructure. This discussion will focus on implementing those strategies involving the core competencies of USGBC Texas and our members.
