WEBINAR: TEXAS SOLAR MARKET 2021
Tuesday, October 5th, 2021Virtual Session 12:00 - 1:00 PM
About the Presentation:
Solar power represents a win-win-win opportunity for Texas. With an abundant supply of sunshine across the state, harnessing solar electricity offers high-value electric generation, rapid deployment, supply diversity and energy security through self-sufficiency, statewide and regional economic development, jobs, unprecedented affordability, very low water use, zero fuel costs, and zero emissions. With plans announced to retire coal and gas thermal generators, and the population continuing to grow, Texas is primed for more investment in solar.
The Texas Solar Power Association (TSPA) is a statewide industry trade association that promotes the development of solar electric generation in Texas. TSPA Executive Director Charlie Hemmeline will provide an update on the trends and developments for solar power in the national and Texas markets covering both utility-scale and rooftop activity and an overview of Texas policy and regulation changes after Winter Storm Uri.
About the Speaker:
Charlie Hemmeline is the Executive Director of the Texas Solar Power Association. A native Texan, he returned to Austin after more than 8 years with the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, DC leading innovative programs for solar and energy efficiency.
Serving originally under President George W. Bush and later President Barack Obama, Charlie led wide-ranging efforts to break down the barriers to mainstream solar and reduce the soft costs of implementation. Highlights included co-founding the Solar America Initiative’s market transformation portfolio and flagship Solar America Cities program in partnership with Houston, San Antonio, and Austin.
