WEBINAR: Retro-Commissioning - An Untapped Market

Tuesday, June 7, 2022

Virtual Session
12:00 - 1:00 PM

About the Presentation:

This course will start with an overview of the commissioning process fundamentals and the application in new projects. Moving from this baseline, we will discuss how a similar commissioning process can be applied to an existing building. We will discuss how the retro-commissioning process is used to identify and resolve poorly performing existing buildings. San Antonio alone is reporting that nearly half of the community emissions come from buildings. Applying this data across the rest of the US results in potentially enormous opportunities for improvement in existing buildings in a virtually untapped market.

About the Speaker:

Brian Keller, Cleary Zimmermann Engineers

Brian Keller has 33 years of experience in building systems commissioning, MEP QA/QC, DDC controls testing, and test and balance. He has commissioned numerous projects, many of which are LEED® or CHPS certified, for various market sectors including healthcare, government, educational, and commercial. Brian has been involved in MEP assessments, programming, plan development, equipment replacements, expansions, and commissioning in both new construction and renovations. He holds membership and certifications in the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) and currently serves on the NEBB National Board of Directors

Brian works for Cleary Zimmermann Engineers, which is celebrating 16 years in business.  Since its inception, Cleary Zimmermann has been engaged in sustainable design and operability of buildings, and their design and commissioning divisions have been engaged in many LEED projects.  The firm has remained a leader in its field as LEED version 2 certification moved into version 3 in 2009 when the prerequisite commissioning requirements took a light year leap as the rigor and criteria for certification were expanded.  Most recently LEED v4 was introduced, and the commissioning requirements and credit structure were once again expanded.  We look forward to Brian’s presentation, which will bridge the gap between these criteria and the untapped retro-commissioning market
