South Texas: Mission Solar Tour

Join USGBC Texas' South Region and Speir Solar for a tour of the Mission Solar Plant at Brooks City Base which began manufacturing solar panels in 2014.  Mission Solar, a part of OCI Solar Power, is the first (and only) manufacturer currently producing N-type solar cell and panel modules in Texas and the U.S.  This manufacturing facility catapulted Texas into the top five U.S. solar producing states and continues to generate jobs and boost the San Antonio economy. 

Locally, these technologically-advanced solar modules generate electricity for the city of San Antonio through OCI Solar Power's contract with CPS Energy.  The Alamo Solar farms diversity the the local power grid and as studies have shown that solar energy has been vital to the energy grid through increasingly extreme weather events.

Speir Solar is a Texas based EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) firm that specializes in Solar PV (Photovoltaics) and ESS (Energy Storage Systems) for both residential and commercial use.  Speir Solar draws on a combined 30 years of solar experience to provide the tools for customers to take ownership of their carbon footprint, ensure energy security, and increase sustainability into the future.
