About the Event
Have you ever thought while walking or riding the Ladybird Lake Trail that this space looks awfully GREEN? Downtown Austin is replete with green development and LEED-certified buildings. Let’s get out and see them!
Central Texas USGBC is teaming up with Ghisallo Cycling Initiative to host a bike ride that gets us out in nature to learn about green development in downtown Austin. We'll explore some sustainability projects along one of the most frequented trails in Austin, LadyBird Lake Trail, followed by a lunch meet-up at Lou's Eastside.
The tour will make brief stops to learn about each of these LEED-certified sites:
This ride is co-hosted by Ghisallo Cycling Initiative, a 501(c)(3) non-profit providing bicycle education and encouragement in Austin and San Antonio. Since 2011, they have provided in-depth after-school Bike Clubs, high volume safety clinics, and learn-to-ride programs for youth in Austin.
*Limited capacity of bikes available to borrow.
Bring your own bike or check out a bike and helmet from Ghissalo. Bring your own water bottle or water bottles can be provided. Helmets are required for the ride as well as CDC Pandemic prevention measures.
